Beta Readers Needed for Pistol Daisy

I'm currently in need of beta readers!

Beta readers help authors by reading early drafts of their work and providing feedback that will be utilized during future stages of the editing process.

Who I'm Looking For

This book is nothing like my YA Cozy Fantasy, Song of the Dryad. This book is rough, gritty, and most certainly for an older crowd.

Pistol Daisy is a western action adventure told from the perspective of a young woman who has just lost her family to the hands of a murderous outlaw. She wants revenge, and will do whatever it takes to get it. Sound like something you'd enjoy? Check out the warnings and requirements below.

  • I'm seeking committed individuals. Please do not sign-up to be a beta reader if you have other commitments that will prevent you from completing the beta reading process.  I understand how busy life gets sometimes, so please try to be realistic when deciding if this is a good fit for you.

  • You'll need to be able to read the book and provide feedback within the month of March.

    • It's a short book, so this shouldn't be a problem for most readers.

  • The novel will be shared via GoogleDocs, so knowledge of the system, or the potential to learn how to use the system, is necessary.

  • I recommend checking out this awesome article on Beta Reader Etiquette before signing up.

    • This book is for an adult audience--it contains swearing, sexual references, violence, drinking, and generally bad behavior. If you're uncomfortable with or offended by this type of content, then this book likely isn't going to be your cup of tea.

How it Works

  • What is a beta reader?

A beta reader is someone who reads an early draft of a story and provides feedback on the story, characters, and plot. A beta reader is not an editor. I don't expect you to correct grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors (although you certainly can if you catch any mistakes). What I expect is for you to read the novel in its entirety and to give me thoughtful and constructive feedback based on your reading experience.

  • Can I still be a beta reader if I've never done it before?

Yes! I am open to first time beta readers, as long as you're willing to commit the time and energy it will take to read my novel, leave feedback, and respond to questions accordingly.

  • How soon will you need my feedback?

I need your feedback by March 31st. I encourage you to leave comments as you go, and then to share an overall summary of your experience once you finish the book.

  • Do I have to be a writer in order to be a beta reader?

No, you only need to be a reader. The purpose of a beta reader is to gauge the entertainment value of a story, which is what readers do best!

  • Can I share your novel with someone else?

No--if you agree to beta read for me, then you are agreeing to keep my work strictly confidential.

  • Can I get anything in return for beta reading?

Yes! I appreciate your time and help so much, and I'd be happy to provide you with a 10% discount off the price/word of any of my editing services. Visit my publishing house, Enchanted Ink Publishing, for more info regarding the services I offer.

If this sounds like something you want to participate in, please fill out the form below and email it to me at

I can only take on a limited number of beta readers, so if you're selected, I'll email you back to give you more detailed instructions and set up the document on GoogleDocs for you to read.

The Form

Please title your email Beta Reader Sign-Up so that I know to get to your email ASAP! I will be in touch shortly if you would make a good beta reader for me.
